Research solution calculator

Enter the fill weight stated on your vial and the diluent volume you intend to add. Everything is worked out in your browser and nothing is saved.

Dilution plan

Adding 2 mL of diluent to a 10 mg vial gives 5.000 mg/mL. A 1 mg quantity corresponds to 0.2000 mL of that solution, which draws roughly 0.20 mg of the powder weight from the vial.

  1. 1. Confirm the fill weight on the label matches the value entered above.
  2. 2. Swab the stopper and let the alcohol flash off before entering the vial.
  3. 3. Run the diluent down the inside wall, then swirl gently — never shake.
  4. 4. Record the batch number, diluent volume and concentration in the batch log.

This calculator performs dilution arithmetic only. It provides no usage, dosing or administration guidance, and its output is not a substitute for your protocol. Values are worked out in the browser and nothing is stored. Catalogue pricing sits on each product page, currently starting at £14.95.

Concentration, not instructions

The calculator converts a fill weight and a diluent volume into mg/mL and µg/µL. It does not suggest how much of anything to use — that belongs to your protocol.

Work at bench temperature

Let a refrigerated vial reach room temperature while still sealed before you open it, otherwise condensation is drawn onto the powder.

Down the wall, never at the cake

Run the diluent down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently. Directing the stream at the powder cake causes foaming and aggregation.
